A Year of Significant Achievements
Members
reviewed TaTEDO-SESO's implementation report for 2025, noting substantial
progress in the delivery of sustainable energy services nationwide. Working in
partnership with national and international development partners — including
the European Union, WWF, SIDA, WRI, MECS, UKRI, and TANESCO — the organisation
implemented a wide range of initiatives spanning clean cooking, sustainable
charcoal value chains, forest conservation, productive use of energy, gender
equality and social inclusion (GESI), and community empowerment.
Over the course of the year, TaTEDO-SESO operated
across eight regions, twenty-eight districts, and more than 138 villages and
communities throughout Tanzania — expanding access to sustainable energy
technologies while nurturing local entrepreneurship and environmental
stewardship.
Advancing Clean
Cooking and Sustainable Energy Solutions
Members commended the remarkable progress made in
promoting modern and affordable cooking energy solutions, particularly the
roll-out of electric cooking technologies.
Through SESCOM Social Enterprise and its network
of agents and partners, over 11,800 SESCOM brand of electric pressure cookers
were marketed to households in Dar es Salaam, Pwani, Dodoma, Morogoro,
Kilimanjaro, and other regions. In parallel, more than 1,000 improved biomass
stoves were disseminated through SEECO — helping households cut fuel costs,
reduce indoor air pollution, and improve health outcomes.
The AGM acknowledged that Tanzania's clean
cooking transition is gaining real momentum, and that TaTEDO-SESO remains at
the forefront of promoting innovative, affordable, and environmentally
responsible cooking solutions.
Strengthening
Community Entrepreneurship and Environmental Conservation
The meeting highlighted TaTEDO-SESO's growing
impact in fostering community-based entrepreneurship and local economic
development. Through collaborations with community groups, financial
institutions, women-led enterprises, and local entrepreneurs, the organisation
continued to support thousands of stakeholders engaged in sustainable energy
businesses. Training was provided to stove producers, charcoal producers, women
entrepreneurs, energy sales agents, and local government officials.
Members also commended ongoing efforts in
environmental conservation. More than one million tree seedlings — including
mangrove species — were distributed through community nurseries, contributing
to ecosystem restoration and long-term climate resilience.
Membership Growth
and Organisational Development
A key milestone of the 2025 AGM was the approval
and formal admission of eleven new members into TaTEDO-SESO, in accordance with
the organisation's Constitution. Members emphasised the importance of
continuing to grow TaTEDO-SESO's membership base by attracting committed
individuals and professionals who share the organisation's vision for
sustainable energy development and environmental stewardship.
The AGM also reviewed progress in strengthening
the organisation's institutional infrastructure, including improvements to
office facilities, technology storage spaces, and facilities that support
TaTEDO-SESO's sustainable energy enterprises.
Addressing
Challenges and Building Resilience
Alongside celebrating achievements, members
engaged in frank discussion about challenges that continue to demand attention.
Key concerns raised included:
s Limited
domestic financing for sustainable energy initiatives
s Competition
from low-cost but lower-quality energy products in the market
s Outstanding
receivables owed to the organisation that affect cash flow
s The need to
intensify public awareness of modern cooking technologies, especially electric
cooking
The AGM reaffirmed the critical importance of
strengthening TaTEDO-SESO's financial sustainability through social
entrepreneurship, strategic partnerships, proactive resource mobilisation, and
disciplined financial management.
Key Resolutions of the AGM
The Annual General Meeting adopted two important
resolutions aimed at deepening member participation and enhancing
organisational sustainability.
i). Monthly Member Contributions
Members unanimously agreed that every active
member of TaTEDO-SESO will contribute a monthly membership support fee of TZS
5,000. This contribution will help strengthen member activities, improve
communication, support organisational development initiatives, and enhance
members' collective engagement in advancing sustainable energy services across
Tanzania.
ii).
Official
TaTEDO-SESO Members' WhatsApp Platform
To improve communication, networking, and
information sharing among its membership, the AGM resolved to establish an
official TaTEDO-SESO Members' WhatsApp Group. The platform will serve as a
dedicated channel for sharing organisational updates, project achievements,
opportunities, technical knowledge, events, and policy developments relevant to
sustainable energy in Tanzania. The initiative is expected to strengthen member
engagement and foster greater collaboration across the TaTEDO-SESO network.
Looking Ahead
The AGM concluded with a renewed and energised
commitment to accelerate Tanzania's sustainable energy transition through
innovation, partnership, community empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
Members endorsed TaTEDO-SESO's 2026 Work Plan and
Budget, which prioritise:
s Scaling up
clean and electric cooking solutions
s Strengthening
community-based entrepreneurship and energy enterprises
s Expanding
sustainable energy services to underserved areas
s Mainstreaming
gender equality and social inclusion across all programmes
s Enhancing
institutional sustainability and financial resilience
As Tanzania continues its journey towards
universal access to sustainable energy, TaTEDO-SESO remains steadfast in its
mission — working hand in hand with government, development partners, the
private sector, local communities, and its growing membership to create lasting
social, economic, and environmental impact.
Together, we are advancing sustainable energy solutions for a
better Tanzania — and a better future for all.
