Scale up access to sustainable energy technologies and services: 

Energy access is an area of great inequity. Access to sustainable modern energy services underpins health, education and livelihoods and increases resilience to climate change.   Without access to modern energy, it will not be possible to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for reducing poverty, improving public health and broadening the reach of education in Tanzania. Tanzania has the biggest gaps in electricity access and clean cooking access.Several peoples in the communities are in need for electricity and are anxious to replacetraditional cook stoves and open fire places with modern energy cookersand this would save the lives of thousand children who die each year as a result of exposure to indoor air pollution.

Millionsof the people especially women spend several hours every day grinding grains, kindling fires, fetching water and collecting fuel for their cooking and heating stoves.By developing infrastructure that provides sustainable, reliable and affordable access to modern energy services, people, communities and countries can significantly improve their living standards and economic status. In particular, increasing access to modern energy services can yield an expansion of job markets and business activities; it can cause improvements in health, gender equality, safety and education

TaTEDOinterprets access to sustainable energy services as a vehicle to support socio-economic and sustainable human development.The modern energy access is directly addresses the mission and mandate of TaTEDO for increased access to sustainable energy to the majority of the population and communities for environmental conservation and poverty reduction. This will be achieved by effective community mobilization, awareness creation and sensitization of communities and leaders on the benefits and impacts of adoption of Sustainable energy technologies on people’s livelihoods and the environment.
